The first major world fair to be held post pandemic, the Expo 2021 Dubai opened on October 1st with a lavish ceremony of fireworks, music, and messages revolving around the power of global collaboration for a more sustainable future. The event will go on until March 31, 2022. The event was postponed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
Located between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the event will see 60 shows daily, and have 191 country pavilions, besides featuring over 200 restaurants at the venue. The global event is all about innovation, creativity, energy, and discussions on world problems, aimed at creating a better future. In fact, every week will have a dedicated theme that will tackle global issues. Some of the topics are Space; Climate & Biodiversity; Travel & Connectivity; Health & Wellness; and Water.
The Expo 2021 is divided into three districts, the Mobility District, Opportunity District, and the Sustainability District. The region’s tourism, trade and business hubs are expecting a boost given the 25 million business and tourist visitors assembling at the world fair which has been built from scratch on 4.3 sq.km. (1.7 sq mile) of desert. This is the first major global event open to visitors since the coronavirus pandemic, and the Dubai Expo is expected to boost trade and investment significantly.
